Minneapolis has tons of kid-friendly activities. Tour the explosive Mill City Museum, visit another era at Historic Fort Snelling, and spend a day at the Minnesota Zoo.

Learn about Minneapolis' history at the Mill City Museum, located in an old flour mill. Watch a short film about the city of Minneapolis, hop on an interactive elevator ride that takes you through the exhibit, and taste some freshly baked bread at the Baking Lab. See a controlled explosion of a model flour mill that demonstrates the fire of 1991 and take in the beautiful views of the Mississippi river and St. Anthony falls from the observation deck.

Immerse yourself in history at Fort Snelling, where visitors travel back in time to the early 1800s. The fort has seen the days of the Civil War to World War II, and staff are in costume as people who lived at the fort at that time, offering up their knowledge and stories as you take a tour of the restored fort. Participate in one of the special events, like an Independence Day celebration with family-friendly activities, the Civil War Weekend, or an interactive history program just for kids.

Visit with all of your favorite animals at the Minnesota Zoo. See underwater creatures at Discovery Bay, and touch sharks, sea stars, and sea anemones at the tide pool. Learn about animals native to the area on the Minnesota Trail, and take a look at the beaver's den on the underwater monitor.Travel to the rainforest on the Tropics Trail, where you can see tropical plants flourish, hang out with gibbons, and listen for chatty birds. Join the Animals After Dark Family ZzzZoo Overnight program where kids can snooze with the sharks, cuddle with a grizzly, or live on a farm. This fantastic program is offered on Fridays at 6:30pm.
