Drive through Natchez Trace, where scenic roads reveal changing leaves and winding bends perfect for a family photo-op. Your kids will love to stop for hiking, biking, and even horseback riding opportunities along the trails. With camping available as well, you can prolong your trip and revel in the adventure. Gulf Island National Shore is also a gorgeous spot to bring the family. Build castles on the white sand beaches, tour an old fort, or cast a line and go fishing. Dive right in at the Institute for Marine Mammal Science, where a love of ocean creatures makes this place magical. Kids ages 6 to 14 can cultivate their inner marine scientist with summer camp classes specializing in hands-on learning and adventure. Enjoy the overnight "Dozing with Dolphins" program, where kids can hand feed the animals and watch training demonstrations. If your children want to see more animals, take them to the Hattiesburg Zoo to enjoy face-to-face encounters with critters such as the Nigerian Dwarf Goat.
