Kirkland is well-known for its gorgeous waterfront on Lake Washington, with restaurants, galleries, a performing arts center, public parks, beaches, and even public art spaces. You and your family will have an endless supply of outdoor activities and artistic experiences to take part in. Kirkland is also the home of the Little League Softball World Championships every August! Your little sports lovers will definitely want tickets. Take a peek at our online directory for Kirkland and find the perfect summer camp for your child. They'll thank you.

Join a community tradition and bring the family to Kirkland Summerfest. This multi-day party is a celebration of the arts with outdoor performances, exhibitions, music, dance, comedy, and the best in family entertainment. Shakespeare in the Park is a large part of the festival, as our children's activities. Kids Zone has yoga and fitness courses, fire trucks and other cars for kids to try out, balloon artists, glitter tattoos, and the beach by the marina offers sun and sand. Every year, there is a Young Artists Exhibition that kids can enter. The theme differs, but this year is "Summer in the Northwest."

Explore the natural side of Kirkland at Bridle Trails, a state park with 482 acres of forest and 28 miles of equestrian/hiking trails. Trails run from 1 to 3.5 miles long, so your family can take an easy jaunt or a more strenuous workout for the older kids. Of course, there is a picnic area for a well-deserved lunch afterwards. The park facilities also include a show ground for horses, with three areas, bleachers, and judge stands. The parking lot also has space for horse trailer parking.

Find an oasis within the city at Juanita Bay Park, scenic wetlands nestled within the bustling part of town. This park has guided tours on the first Sunday of every month and its 110 acres of preserved marshes are full of wildlife. Lily pads, bridges, and outlooks add to the charm and trails with interpretive markers make going for a walk easy and informative. Bring the kids right before sunset when most of the animals are out. You can see turtles, ducks, beavers, ospreys, and even bald eagles have been spotted! The park also has a great running trail, tai chi classes, and picnic areas. The park is closed in the winter, but reopens in the spring.
