Overnight Camp with Commuter and Full Day options

The Wilson Collegiate Tennis camp at Miami University in beautiful Oxford, Ohio, is one of the fastest-growing tennis camps in the Midwest. This residential (with non-boarding options) camp emphasizes skill development in a fun and competitive environment, directed by Miami head women’s tennis coach Ricardo Rosas.

The Miami camp is the perfect preparation for young players looking to get more involved with playing tennis. Each camper receives personal attention, advanced teaching techniques, intensive drill work, and game/match play, all in a fun and competitive environment.  Campers are broken into small instructional groups with similar age., ability and experience, so each child is working in a group that is commensurate with their experience level and tailor the instruction to the level of the players.

Beginners would get a heavier dose of swing technique and fundamentals, while more advanced players would focus on strategy, point building, percentage tennis, etc.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CAMP INCLUDE:

  • Comprehensive instructional program with daily teaching progressions
  • Small instructional groups to ensure individual attention

        FAQ's

Q: Are there Skill Requirements for this camp?

Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.

Q: What type of campers attend this camp?

Our camps are open to all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level.

We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision making, and more advanced technique to the intermediate player, while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.

        Q. What is the ratio of campers to staff?

Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5-6: 1 camper to coach. Some camps/sessions offer higher or lower ratios based on the curriculum.

        Q. If the camp is full, do you have a waiting list?

To be added to the waitlist, please register here (there is no fee to join the waitlist).

        Q. Should I purchase camp/cancellation insurance?

We recommend all families purchase camp/cancellation insurance if they are concerned about the investment they are making in the camp. Kids do get injured, sick and family plans change from the time of registration leading up to the camp. Camp insurance allows peace of mind and has many benefits in any of these events. Please review our policies page for more information about camp/cancellation insurance. Click Here

                                    Ricardo Rosas

                                    HEAD WOMEN’S TENNIS COACH

                                    Miami University

Rosas has been the Head Coach of the Miami Women’s Tennis program since 2017. In that time, the RedHawks have advanced to three MAC Tournament Championships, while capturing two regular season titles and a tournament championship crown. Rosas is 54-53 overall and 26-15 in MAC play since taking over the helm of the tennis program. Rosas has been named MAC Coach of the Year three different times, including 2019 and 2022 as well as in 2010 when he served as Miami’s interim head coach. Rosas also recently helped coach the Mexican National Team in both the 2018 and 2019 Fed Cup.

Rosas has been a fixture around the RedHawk program, having spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach. He was named the program’s Associate Head Coach in 2013. In addition, Rosas had two tenures as Interim Head Coach, including in 2010 when he was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year. He also served in a similar capacity at the end of the 2006-07 campaign.

During his time as an assistant at Miami, Rosas helped guide the program to eight-straight MAC regular-season titles (2009-16), five MAC Tournament titles and six NCAA Tournament appearances (2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015, 2019). The RedHawks tallied a 226-151 overall record during his 15 seasons, including an impressive 107-24 MAC mark.

Rosas brings an impressive tennis background and strong experience as an international competitor. As a junior player, Rosas was one of Mexico’s finest, ranking No. 26 in singles and No. 12 in doubles in the ITF World Rankings. In 1993-94, he participated in the U.S. Open, French Open and Wimbledon as an 18-year old. Following his junior career, he went on to play four years on the ATP Tour (1994 to 1997), reaching career-best rankings of No. 574 in singles and No. 375 in doubles. His international experience also includes representing Mexico in several events, including the 1994 Davis Cup. After his playing career ended, Rosas spent one year at the Gary Kesl Tennis Academy in Deerfield, Fla.
