The Summer Program is an extension of the Winston Prep philosophy, principles, and model that takes place during the summer months. It provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in an individually designed program aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence. The strength of the program has always been and remains the individualized education for each student.

Who attends the program?

Students going into 3rd grade through 12th grade from private, public, mainstream, and special education settings come to Winston Prep to improve their academic skills. Students come from many NJ counties, including Essex, Morris, Bergen, Union, Somerset, and Middlesex, as well as some NY areas, such as Staten Island and Rockland County.

Faculty

Summer Program teachers primarily consist of reading specialists, special education instructors, learning specialists, and speech and language pathologists from Winston Prep’s full-time faculty. With a small, close-knit staff of Winston Prep teachers, the high degree of communication amongst faculty allows instructors to use the Continuous Feedback System. Regular communication with parents takes place throughout the summer and parents are updated weekly on goals and progress.
The 2024 Summer Program provides students with the opportunity to take part in our individually designed program aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence.

This year's program will run from July 1st to July 26th.

A Parent-Teacher Conference Day will be held on July 29th.
Students are grouped according to skill level and learning style in small classes of no more than twelve students, whereby a customized academic program is created to match the specific needs of the students. Each student also receives daily one-on-one instruction targeting areas of greatest need within our Focus Program. The summer program is designed to develop language, encoding/decoding, reading comprehension, writing, math, study skills, test preparation, organization, and time management at each student’s appropriate level of need and interest. Developing students’ Qualities of a Sustainable and Independent Learner, such as resilience, self-advocacy, social responsibility, pragmatics, social communication, and problem-solving, are also infused into summer program days.
