Nike Field Hockey Camp at Pace University

Kayte Biordi, who was named the Pace University head field hockey coach in February of 2016, is currently heading into her eighth season at the helm of the Setters in 2024. She has put together a superb record of 88-50 (.637 win percentage) during her time in Pleasantville.

After Pace's historic 2018 campaign, which featured a berth in the NCAA Division II Final Four, Coach Biordi led one of the youngest teams in the country to a record of 6-12 in 2019. Following the loss of 12 seniors, Pace's starting lineup featured seven underclassmen and no seniors.

Biordi was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year in 2018 after leading the Setters to an 18-3 record that featured a regular-season NE10 Championship (13-0). Pace would later advance to the team’s first NCAA Tournament in November as the No. 3 seed, collecting their first-ever postseason win over Saint Anselm in the first round.

Under Biordi’s leadership, the Setters remained ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Poll for 10 straight weeks and placed six players on NE10 All-Conference Teams. Three players—Paige Predmore, Halley Rose, and Jane Kasparian—were later named NFHCA All-Americans. Freshman goalkeeper Grace Henderson was anointed the NE10 Rookie of the Year after finishing the regular season atop the nation in wins and goals-against average. In December, Biordi and her assistants were named the NFHCA’s East Region Coaching Staff of the Year.

In 2017, Biordi was named the Synapse Sports National Field Hockey Coach of the Year after leading the Setters to a program-record 15 wins and the team’s first-ever Northeast-10 Championship Tournament berth. Coach Biordi’s team was ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll for eight consecutive weeks in 2017, climbing as high as No. 6. Senior goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez was named the NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year after ranking second in the nation in save percentage and goals-against average. Sanchez Alvarez and her senior defensive partner Margaret Maclean were both named to the NE10 All-Conference First Team, selected to the NFHCA Division II Senior Game, and appointed Synapse Sports Second Team All-Americans and NFHCA Division II Second Team All-Americans. Junior Paige Predmore was selected to the NE10 All-Conference Second Team, while freshman Lisette de Bruin was named to the conference All-Rookie Team.

In just the program's second varsity season in 2016, Biordi guided the Setters to a three-win improvement with a record of 9-9. In addition, Kinsley's squad jumped three slots in the NE-10 standings, nabbing conference wins over Southern New Hampshire, Merrimack, Franklin Pierce, St. Michael's, and Southern Connecticut State, sophomore Halley Rose (second team) and freshman Louisa Wegener (All-Rookie) were each selected to the 2016 Northeast-10 All-Conference Team.

Biordi came to Pace from Mercy College, where she served as head coach of the field hockey team, as well as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations.

Biordi coached the Mavericks since their inception as a varsity program in 2010, helping the team build from the ground up. She led the team to marked improvement from 2010 to 2015. The Pace University field hockey team will benefit from Biordi's experience as the team heads into its second season as an intercollegiate athletic program.

Biordi's field hockey teams have also been impressive off the field. In 2012, the Mercy field hockey team earned the NCAA Division II First Place National Academic Team Award, and the team took fifth place in 2014. Her team also received the NCAA East Coast Conference Community Service Award in 2012.

Biordi has served on the NCAA Division II Field Hockey National and Regional Committees. She was the head coach of the National Field Hockey Futures Program's Hudson Valley Region team from 2011-14 and has run Connecticut Revolution Field Hockey Summer/Winter Clinics since 2012. Biordi has received Level II + III Coaching Certification from the USA Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Biordi was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Operations in August of 2015. Her responsibilities included game day administration and operations, directing game contracts and coordinating schedules, acting as the athletic department liaison to admissions, and multiple other duties. She also helped write and present the Mercy College Athletic Department Five-Year Strategic Plan.

Biordi's field hockey roots come from the Hudson Valley. She led Putnam Valley High School to the New York State Championship as a senior in 2005, capping her career as a four-time All-League selection, Section I Honorable Mention and the Section I Sportsmanship Award recipient. She was also a standout on the soccer field for Putnam Valley and went on to play with the women's soccer program at Adelphi University, where she graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in physical education.
