Is your child looking for a unique experience this summer, where they can have fun, enjoy the water, and learn about the environment all at the same time? 4-H2O is a water based science camp from Clemson Extension held in more than 15 counties across the state. 4-H2O teaches kids about enjoying and protecting our local streams, lakes and rivers while they splash around, learn new skills and make new friends.
Two 4-H2O programs are being offered in Richland and Lexington Counties this summer. The first is 4-H2O Exploring Lake Murray, which will be held June 24-28 at the SCE&G recreation area at Lake Murray for youth ages 10-12. Participants will tour the lake on pontoon boats, visit a water treatment plant, swim every day, and learn about fishing, aquatic critters, wildlife, pollution prevention and more. The second program is 4-H2O Exploring the Congaree Watershed, which will be held July 8-12 at Harbison State Environmental Forest for youth ages 11-14. This program is designed for older students and those who have already completed the 4-H2O Exploring Lake Murray program (all though this is not a requirement). Participants will canoe, hike, swim, visit Congaree National Park, learn to use a compass, and study fish, aquatic insects, forestry, nature protection and more.
For more information and to register for either camp, visit our website. Both camps are limited to 20 participants, and registration is on first-come first-served basis, so sign up early!
