Billabongs Surf Camp is a unique offering for students, ages 6-16, interested in learning the dynamic curriculum of surfing and marne science.
Professional instructors present surfing in a series of progressive skill exercises. This unique method of instruction allows students to develop at their own rate, building confidence and proficiency at each level.
Campers spend the week in small peer groups that are age and skill appropriate. Essential skills, include: balance training, paddling, the "pop-up," oceanography and catching waves. Dedicated counselors and a low staff/student ratio ensures safety and allows for individual instruction.
As part of the effort to present surfing as a lifestyle, campers are exposed to a variety of ocean sports and interests, including: surfing, skim boarding, body boarding, the Indo Board, ocean safety and surf etiquette.
Each week a member of the Surfrider foundation will visit camp to discuss the organization's leading role in helping to preserve the ocean's environment, giving campers the chance to learn firsthand about such ocean science topics as: waves, tides, marine biology, coastal ecology and beach profiles.
On Fridays, a visit from a Billabong pro and an awards presentation provides a unique closure to a week of exciting events and accomplishment.
