This summer we'll be offering three fabulous weeks of
The days at camp start with Yoga for those who wish to participate. Others may prefer to catch a little extra sleep before heading to the dining hall for breakfast.
Our morning program begins after breakfast. The youngest children in our Peeper program are offered a variety of arts and music activities, with ample opportunity to explore the natural wonders of our new setting. At least one off-site trip to a nearby farm will be scheduled each week.
Older children will report to the Kid Barn as the starting point of their camp morning. The Kid Barn has a large indoor space, perfect for rainy days, with a basketball hoop, ping pong table, and a variety of arts and crafts materials, books, and board games. Besides these indoor choices, kids will have the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities - group games, sports, hiking and nature exploration. Our staff works to create an environment of caring and compassion each day.
Adults and older teens can pursue their own interests through exciting courses offered each morning. Our adult program teachers are professionals who have experience teaching and practicing their craft. Some of the classes we've offered in the past include: Glass Bead Making, Watercolors, Energy Healing, Photography, Singing, Massage, Samba music and Parenting.
Teens have their own program as well. Teen campers will be contacted by their group leader prior to camp to find out their goals for the week and set up a schedule of activities for the group. Teens in the past have chosen, among other things, jewelry making, videography, photography, guitar lessons and off-site adventures.
Program offerings during the afternoons are not divided by age, but are geared to the whole family. Our first period after lunch is a quiet time for napping, story hour, board games, and impromptu activities. Second period activities will include on-site explorations, arts & crafts, swimming and off-site trips. On Thursday, between rehearsals for the Big Show (where campers of all ages are encouraged to perform) there are usually some special events such as a carnival or concert on the lawn.
Our evening program begins after dinner. While adults may linger over their meal, children who have finished can choose to participate in group activities, such as scavenger hunts, organized by the children's staff. Adults are free to participate as well. This is followed by an evening activity for everyone, such as African dance, group games, campfires, storytelling and the end of the week extravaganza, the Big Show.
All campers are required to participate in 5 hours of community service per week. For single parents with children 5 and under, we will find special jobs that can be done with your family.
