Founded in 1999, the Queen’s Quay Disabled Sailing Program (QQDSP) a location of the Disabled Sailing Association of Ontario, has quickly grown to be the biggest sailing program of its kind in North America. It is the only program in the Toronto area designed specifically for people with disabilities, and the equipment and boats used are widely considered to be the most accessible in the world. This year, QQDSP is proud to be able to offer Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) certified sailing courses to children and youth aged 6 to 16. Our instructors are young adults who are skilled CYA instructors, and who are familiar with the varying needs of QQDSP students. The student to instructor ratio will be 5 to 1 or less, with a knowledgeable QQDSP volunteer accompanying each student. Kids’ Camps QQDSP Sailing Camp is a fostering and supportive environment that allows campers to learn and experience sailing at their own pace and comfort level. The Kids’ Camp is designed for campers aged 6 to 12, and incorporates lots of sailing with fun waterfront activities. Campers will learn to feel comfortable board a sailboat while earning CYA sailing levels. Most students will sail the Access Dinghy, while older students may sail the Martin 16 Youth Camps This all-day camp will give youth aged 13 to 17 the confidence and skill to sail independently, with the opportunity to earn up to CYA sailing level White Sail III. Campers will spend most of their time on the water, but will also come ashore to learn important nautical skills, participate in waterfront activities, and have fun with their classmates. We will sail a boat designed specifically for our programs - the Martin 16.
