We are pleased to offer your students an opportunity to apply for our 2007 Economics Summer Camp, sponsored by the John E. Walker Department of Economics at Clemson University and fully funded by BB&T.  This summer camp program offers students the chance to study a broad range of real world topics in economics with some of Clemson University’s finest professors while experiencing college life on our beautiful campus nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and to have some fun at the same time.

The Economics Summer Camp was founded in 2003 with a focus on South Carolina students, but the unprecedented popularity of the program has spurred BB&T to sponsor a second program starting in 2005.  This expanded version of the program is open primarily to students from Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C but other exceptional candidates from the whole nation and beyond will be considered.  There is no cost for students to attend the 2006 Economics Summer Camp at Clemson thanks to a generous grant from BB&T.  All program costs, materials, housing, and meals are provided free of charge to the participants.  In addition each student who attends the camp receives up to $300 to defer the cost of travel.

This year will be the second year of bringing together the South Carolina students with the out of state students in two (one week) sessions of the Economics Summer Camp, running from July 8th-13th and 15th-20th, respectively.  Enrollment for this valuable opportunity is limited to 60 students and admission is very competitive.  We are currently accepting applications from rising high school seniors with a thirst for knowledge, a demonstrated interest in economics and outstanding academic performance.  Students should submit an application online, along with mailing an academic transcript, and at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, principal or guidance counselor no later than March 23rd, 2007.
