This is a basic camp listing: no contact information is provided.

Activities and instruction include:  learning and performing a play, music instrument instruction, singing instruction, arts and crafts such as building instruments, basics of music reading, writing songs, and ensemble activities.  When the weather is nice, participants may take snack on the great lawn and play under the sprinklers, too.  “We are always looking out for the best interest of our students.  Our camps are just the right combination of structure and flexibility, so the participants get a great education while having stress-free-fun and getting to be a “kid”!”, says Penna, who herself holds both a masters degree and bachelors degree in music education, and has been teaching for 20 years.

Each week is structured around a popular theme appropriate and engaging for the age group.  Penna is the mother of two children, ages 8 and 11 and often asks them to help plan out the themes and activities they feel would be fun for them and their peers.  According to Rachel, age 11, “My mom does the best camps—my old friends love coming each year, and I always make new BFF’s!”  Rachel’s favorite theme this year?  ‘Twilight’!  For 8 year old Maya, the best part of the summer is the time she spends getting learning and keeping busy at MusicMakers.  “I can’t wait for the Disney camp!”

NEW programs, too!  This year MusicMakers has added some new programs in piano and strings.  The beginning piano and strings camps, for instance, is a great way for a child to find out what instrument is the right instrument for him/her, before committing to private lessons.  They are also appropriate for students in their first 2 years of instruction to do a focused week on their instrument.  There is also a piano intensive week and a strings intensive week for students who are a bit more seasoned, but want to do ensemble work and advance their skills in a focused setting.

Expanded Weeks! MusicMakers has expanded their camp season to go right up until the beginning of the school year!  Penna states, “As most moms know, there is literally nothing offered the week before school starts, and that puts us working parents in a real bind!  So, this year I thought “why not just offer another week?”  The result? “Enrollment for that week is flying faster than any other week!”

Penna has the utmost confidence in her teaching staff, usually one to two teachers leading with one assistant. Workshops are limited to 14 children; this way, each child gets lots of individual attention. Penna expects the workshops to be well-attended as always this year, with many families signing up for multiple weeks.

On Fridays, there is a performance for families and friends.  Penna said, “Then, the kids go home with smiles on their faces and lots of beautiful memories.”

Early drop off/late pickup is available with advance arrangements. There are sibling discounts available, as well as “early bird” discounts, multi-week discounts and referral discounts.
