Sailing Camp at Austin Yacht Club

Beginning Sailing Camp - Come on out and learn the basics of sailing on an Opti or Sunfish! Learn how to rig and steer a boat, tie some knots, about the wind circle, and a little bit about the weather! We will sail to a beach and have a picnic and awards on Friday! AYC provides a light breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
Ages: 8 and up
Max enrollment: 20 students 

Intermediate Sailing Camp - It's time to take it up a notch; move onto a 420 or Flying Junior for some team fun! There will be many games to help you improve your boat handling skills, mater the jib, and get to know your classmates! On Friday, try the challenging obstacle course to a beach for a picnic and awards! AYC provides a light breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
Ages: 12 and up
Prerequisite: Beginning Sailing or equivalent skills
Max enrollment: 12 students 

Advanced Sailing Camp - Now that you have mastered boat handling, it's time to try out some new stuff. This class will give you a chance to try out racing and cruising, all the while getting even better at sailing. There is even a chance to try out a spinnaker*! On Friday, there's a race and awards. AYC provides a light breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
Ages: 14 and up
Prerequisite: Intermediate Sailing or equivalent skills
Max enrollment: 12 students
* Sailing with a spinnaker or trapeze will be left to the Coaches' discretion and my take multiple Advanced Sailing classes to reach. 

Beginning Sailing 3-Day Session focuses on learning basic boat handling skills and to have fun, and stay safe on the water. Each session is from 9 until 5pm with drop off available starting at 8am and pickup between 5pm and 6pm.  Bring your own lunch. Boats: Sunfish and Optis
Ages: 9 and up
Max enrollment: 10 students
Prerequisite: None

Beginning Racing 3-Day Session works on learning how to race, protest, and starts. Each session is from 9 until 5pm with drop off available starting at 8am and pickup between 5pm and 6pm.  Bring your own lunch. Boats: Sunfish and Optis
Ages: 9 and up
Max enrollment: 10 students
Prerequisite: Beginning Sailing
 
The PB&J Series at Austin Yacht Club is a beginner sailing class for kids 4-9 years old. The focus is to have fun, and stay safe on the water. Each session is for 1.5 hours. The June sessions are geared for 15-20 kids, and led by seasoned PB&J veterans "Coach John" and "Coach Doug" and the July sessions , taught by Kristen Johnston, 
are geared for 10 kids to start with and may extend to 20 if there is need.  The registration fee includes use of the club's Optimist Dinghy sailboats, and a t-shirt and 
certificate for each child. 
Schedule: Early session (9:30am-11:00a), Late Session (11:00a-12:30p). After each class, most kids move up the hill for swimming and parent-provided lunch.
