The purpose of MySummerCamps.com is to connect families, staff and those seeking to rent a camp with outstanding camps around the globe. At MySummerCamps.com, you'll also find hundreds of vendors and exclusive articles from some of the most respected leaders in the camping world. Everything has been developed in order to help you improve your camp.
Is listing with MySummerCamps.com really free?
Yes, MySummerCamps.com is free. You can list your program and have families see the name and a short description. There's plenty to do as a basic member! If you decide you want to attract even more eyeballs and/or drive traffic to your website, consider one of our premium memberships. Premium memberships offer more privileges and cost as little as $2.00 (or less!) per day.
Are camps on this site screened?
Yes and no. A valid email address is required in order to become a member of MySummerCamps.com, as you will not be able to obtain your Password without one. There is no way that we can do extensive background checks on the thousands of camps that choose to participate. What we've done is list the various associations and request that the members listed identify which associations they are members of in good standing.
What is the difference between the free and paid membership?
MySummerCamps.com works on a membership system so that we are able to keep data files that contain your profile information and other information such as your "traffic count", etc. Non-paid members may join the site and add their camp name and a short description, but in order to showcase their website, email, address, phone number, logo, pictures, activities, staff positions, camp rental, etc. they must become a paid member.
What is the difference between a simple search and a keyword search?
In a Simple Search, you are able to search by certain criteria, including Camp Type, Location, and Age. Camp Type options include Online Camps, Day, Overnight, International, Teen Tours & Travel, Family, and Adult Camps. When you search by a Location, you can search by City, State, and Zip Code. By being specific about what camp is needed, the site can provide more accurate search results that will better fit your needs. In a Keyword Search, you can enter words such as Activities, Location (City or State), or a Camp Name. The system will search through the listings on the site for any words searched.

Your MySummerCamps.com Camp Listing

Are listings reviewed? Is there any limit to what I can put in my listing?
Yes. All member listings, when they are originally created must be approved by MySummerCamps.com. We reserve the right to refuse any listing or photograph that we feel is inappropriate for the site. Each listing is allowed one logo and twenty photographs in addition to 400 words of description.
How long does it take to have my listing posted?
It usually takes no more than 2-3 business days to have your listing posted, depending on how many camps sign up each day (sometimes dozens). If a business day has passed and your profile still has not been posted, please contact us toll-free at 877-777-7738 to notify us.
What are some tips to remember when creating my listing?
The number of requests you get from our viewers will depend greatly on the quality of your listing. Here are some helpful tips that will help you:
  • Add original content to your listing. It is important for your listing to have text that differs from any other page. After Google released their Panda algorithm, all websites with duplicate content (textual information in verbatim) were effected unfavorably. Having differential and relevant content can improve your SEO (search engine optimization) for your listing and your webpage considerably, which can lead to better traffic.
  • Use eye-catching photos. People like to see the camp that they're reading about, profiles with photographs get up to ten times more clicks as profiles that don't have one. You can either upload a photo from a digital camera or a scanner. If you don't have access to a scanner, we can do it for you.
  • Make sure to use relevant keywords within your text/descriptions. Feel free to write as many as 400 words in the camp description portion. The better your profile describes your camp, the more likely it is that families will read and respond to it. If you can't think of anything right away, you can always return and add more content later.
  • Use persuasive and snappy language in your short description. You are only allowed a maximum of 200 characters in your short description, so make it worth it! You can view this description in any relevant search results pages.
  • Choose categories that are relevant to your camp. You are limited to the number of categories you can add on your listing (Bronze = 2, Silver = 4, Gold = 4). Therefore, you should make sure to browse our list of categories available and choose the ones that represent your camp the best.
Our camp is full. How do I temporarily turn my listing off?
To "turn off" your listing we simply switch your account from a paid listing (which is prominently displayed) to a free listing which is significantly less visible. To initiate this process simply give us a call toll-free at 877-777-7738 or email us.
How do I permanently remove my listing and delete my account?
CAUTION: Deleting a listing is permanent. We will not be able to recover deleted listings. To permanently delete your listing, call us toll-free at 877-777-7738 or email us.
How do I update my listing?
To update your listing, please follow these steps:
  1. Login to MySummerCamps.com using your Username and Password.
  2. Within the "Members Area" (top right-hand side) click the "Modify / Copy Camp" link.
  3. Make your updates.
  4. When finished click on "Modify Camp".
* modifications will not be posted live on the site until a member of the MySummerCamps.com team has reviewed and validated the changes.
How often is MySummerCamps.com rebuilt?
The entire site is rebuilt daily at 3am EST.
How often are the organic results on MySummerCamps.com randomized?
The organic results on MySummerCamps.com are randomized daily at 3am EST when the site is rebuilt.
Why is a true link to your site so important?
Many other directories on the Internet link to your site, however, they link to your site through a redirector. This redirector is not a true link to your site. Search engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN scan the Internet for links to your site. Redirectors block search engines from locating these links to your site. The more links to your site, the more highly your site will be ranked, particularly if the links are from relevant websites and sites that have a strong PageRank - the result of having more links is more traffic. Clients participating on MySummerCamps.com receive 2 true links as a result of their participation as a paid member of MySummerCamps.com.

How do we track our results?
Unlike traditional advertising such as newspapers, magazines, and television the internet offers advertisers the ability to quantitatively verify their results. To check your results simply Login using your Username and Password and view your CampStats. These statistics offer camp professionals detailed information in an easy to read format. CampStats track the volume of users who:
  • Click on your telephone button.
  • View your detailed page.
  • Travel to your website.
  • Request that you contact them.

Why was my credit card denied?
There are many reasons why an order comes back denied by your financial institution. Most common are:
  • Insufficient funds available.
  • Your card has expired.
  • Your billing address does not match the card statement.
  • CVV/CVV2 number is incorrect or incomplete.

The best reviews are personal and detailed. Reviews offer a rich perspective into a camp program that parents need in order to make the right choice for their child. Any insight would be helpful. Here are some additional thoughts for conscientious reviewers.

  • Personalize your experience: We want to hear about your firsthand camp experience, not what you observed as a third party. Try to tell your own story without resorting to broad generalizations and allegations without evidence. When writing your review, please elaborate on your experience. We want to provide parents and future campers with exclusive details about the camp.
  • Stick to the facts: Make sure your review is factually correct. Feel free to air your opinions, but please don't exaggerate or misrepresent your experience.
  • Inappropriate content: Colorful language and imagery is fine, but there's no need for threats, harassment, lewdness, hate speech, and other displays of bigotry. Please use professional verbiage only. Reviews can be harmful to a business' reputation. For this reason, we reserve the right to verify that the reviewer has attended the camp.
  • Conflicts of interest: Reviews should be unbiased and objective. We will not approve reviews submitted by the camp itself, an employer of the camp, friends or relatives of the camp, or by the camp's peers or competitors.
  • Relevance: Please make sure your review is relevant and appropriate for our family-friendly website. Reviews are not the place for rants about a camp's employment practices, political ideologies, extraordinary circumstances, or other matters that don't address the core of the child's experience. Such irrelevant reviews will not be approved.
  • Spamming: Please post unique reviews on MySummerCamps.com. If you post your review on multiple camp listings, that will be considered spam and duplicate content. Every review will be checked for plagiarism before approval.
  • Intellectual property: Don't swipe content from other sites or users. Speak intelligently about your own experience. We appreciate unique personal reviews, as they are more useful for other parents and campers than taking the words from somewhere else.
