Being from Michigan, I was worried when my husband insisted we send our son to Camp Ahmek (Algonquin Park, Canada). My jitters were so bad that I called the camp and asked to speak with the Director. The staff were very polite and understanding and the Director took time to speak with me about my concerns.
Camp Ahmek just gave my son the best summer!!!!

Still, I was nervous when we put our 10 year-old on a plane to Toronto. Two weeks later he returned more independent and confident than I had ever seen him! The camp had taken care of all transport to- and from the airport, put him in a cabin with other kids from the USA, and he had a great time.
Callum, my son, came back raving about his counsellor and all the activities he had taken part in (horseback riding, archery, high ropes course, sailing, swimming, yoga, drama, music, etc.). The only problem now is that he wants to go back next year for a month! I don't know if I can let him go for that long...
Anyway, here's the link for those interested. I would highly recommend them:
