Description

Camp Anokijig has been recognized for camping excellence since 1926. It is availble for boys and girls ages 7 to 16 years old, with sessions varying in length from three days to one or more weeks, for up to nine weeks of summer fun. One-week sessions allow the camper to enjoy a camp experience that suits their personal needs. It also allows staff members to interact with a wide variety of youth throughout the summer. Anokijig is an Indian word meaning "We Serve" but it is also synonymous with new friends, positive values, personal growth, great adventures, and outrageous fun. We operate by and strive to instill the positive values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Camp Anokijig is located in Plymouth, WIsconsin; one hour North of Milwaukee and halfway between Sheboygan and Fond Du Lac. 350 acres of rolling Kettle Moraine Forest surround Little Elkhart Lake. Camp Anokijig boasts of its' natural surroundings including a sand beach, island, pond, streams, and hardwood forests. Prime facilities include Western Lodge, one of the largest and most beautiful all-log structures in the state of Wisconsin. Other facilities include: stone boathouse, saddle shed, platform tents, cabins, craft shop, and health lodge. Program equipment includes 50 horses, 25 sailboats, numerous watercraft and much more!

Camp Anokijig's emphasis is on sectional (groups of 12 to 48) and individual relationships rather than on the tent or cabin relationship. Campers usually stay in one of our platform tent sections, cabins, or one of the bunkhouses. They are grouped together by age/grade; with two to three grades per section.

Resident Camp General Program

  • Skill Periods...campers choose two specific daily activities to learn and enjoy a new skill or become more proficient in a previously learned skill. The focus is on learning through active fun and games.
  • All-Camp Activities...group games, cookouts, campfires, dances, special events, closing ceremonies, and much more.
  • Sectional Activities...campers who live together choose activities to enjoy as a group. This provides an opportunity for each section and their staff to have a great time together doing age appropriate activities.
  • Directed Free Time...all program areas are staffed and supervised for the campers to choose from as they please. They may stay at one activity for a whole period or visit several areas; it's their choice. This portion of the program provides opportunitites for campers to experience independence and practice decision making skills.
