Camp Buckskin

Greetings from Camp Buckskin! We are a residential program that focuses on helping young people with social and academic needs. More specifically, many of our campers are diagnosed with AD/HD, various learning disabilities, Asperger's Syndrome and other related needs. They are of average to well above average intelligence with tons of potential, but need help to convert that into abilities. We are located in the Superior National Forest near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Ely, MN. In our past 48 summers, we've helped over 7000 young people to become more capable and confident. We offer both traditional camp and some academic activities (canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, archery, riflery, environmental education, and reading). We also feature a Personal Growth program, which helps our campers to acquire or improve the basic social abilities needed to make and maintain friendships. Our overall goal is to help our campers learn skills that will help them build their self-confidence, increase their self-esteem, and make them more successful people. 

We are looking for quality people who have a genuine interest in being a good role model and providing our campers with the support and guidance they need. Many of our staff come from the helping fields (education, psychology, social work, and related disciplines), but this is not a prerequisite, as most anyone could benefit from improving their communication, leadership, and problem solving skills! As our campers gain knowledge and skills, the staff find they gain as much (or more!) knowledge and skills from the campers. We have the following positions available for this upcoming summer: counselor and activity instructor, nurse, health care assistant, office assistant, assistant cook, and maintenance.
