Camp Mondamin for boys

Mondamin and Green Cove need MEN and WOMEN who enjoy working / living with children and have skills in outdoor activities. We are located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, just half an hour from 3 million acres of National Forest and Park land. We have sessions of 3 and 6 weeks for children aged 7 to 17. Our focus is on adventure, growth, and instruction of real wilderness skills. Our activities include Whitewater Canoeing / Kayaking, Backpacking, Rock Climbing, Sailing, Mountain Biking, and Horse-back Riding (English). After some basic instruction in camp, we go out into the field for 1 to 7 day trips in each of these activities. We also have a nature program, a tennis program, a swimming program, as well as arts and crafts. The program is non-competitive and much less regimented than most camp, giving the kids that come here incentive to try new things while learning to set their own goals. If you have enough experience, we’ll make you a trip leader with the appropriate pay increase.

Besides teaching outdoor skills and leading trips, counselors work directly with a small group of boys or girls (5-6) in a residential setting, modeling and teaching skills like community living, conflict resolution, leadership, responsibility, and goal-setting. A strong interest in working with kids is a must! Hard work but incredibly fun and rewarding. Plus, you’ll gain new skills. Come put your leadership skills to work!
