Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) is proud of the amazing programs offered at our 4 camp properties.  We are hiring 120+ summer camp staff members!! 

GSSEM is known nationally for its age-specific programming. Each year, we seek role models who can help girls achieve in this single-sex environment. Staff members need to be independent, resourceful, and safety conscious. The staff is a diverse group of strong women and men who are willing to be role models and enjoy the outdoors with girls and young women.

 

Camp Hawthorn Hollow Grades 1-12

Columbus, St. Clair County

Hawthorn Hollow is a Girl Scout resident camp located near Marysville, Michigan, the 330-acre camp has modern facilities for campers and staff alike.  Camp Hawthorn Hollow features a fun free choice program that allows girls to create a schedule that reflects their interests and abilities. There are also great performing arts and leadership training offerings. Girls and staff stay in lodges and cabins with running water and may visit the activity center, outdoor pool, equestrian center, and climbing wall/high ropes during their time at camp.

 

Camp Innisfree Grades 1-12

Howell, Livingston County

Camp Innisfree is located in Howell, Michigan, approximately 30 miles east of Lansing.  Camp Innisfree has a year-round equestrian center with multiple riding rings and trail ride options. In addition to horseback riding instruction for beginner through advanced riders, there is a farm barn with various small animals. sports, leadership, science, bikes, ropes course, and lakefront fun are all part of the Innisfree adventure. Girls and staff stay in troop houses with running water, or rustic platform cabins.

 

Camp O’Fair Winds Grades 1-6

Columbiaville, Lapeer County

Camp O’Fair Winds, a 465 acre camp, specializes in camp opportunities for girls in elementary school. This means the staff and facilities are geared toward the specific needs of this group. Offering a wide variety of themed programs, Camp O’Fair Winds excels in aquatic programs. Girls receive swim instruction and have the chance to play in the pool with its water features and water slide. Camp O’Fair Winds offers many of the program highlights that make a traditional summer camp popular such as campfires, arts and crafts, swimming, boating, and cookouts. We also offer many day and overnight trips for our girls, which include canoeing, tubing, and more.Girls and staff stay in screened-in platform tents.

 

The Timbers Grades 6-12

Traverse City, Grand Traverse County

The Timbers is a wilderness/tripping camp located in Traverse City, MI. Each group of girls plans a trip based on an interest in backpacking, sailing, canoeing, or biking. The girls work together with staff to plan their trip. In camp, the girls train and prepare for their adventure and participate in team building activities on the initiatives course, 6-sided climbing tower and zip line, and the high ropes course.   The camp season runs from late May/early June to mid-August. This includes an extensive training program including First Aid, CPR, and life guarding. All staff are expected to live and work in a rustic setting. Camp is a residential, live-in, 24 hour a day job. Staff sleep in platform tents.
