CCUSA/Camp California

Our campers and staff come from over 20 countries around the world.  Our Resident Camp program offers over 30 different daily activities to choose from and a variety of exciting evening and special programs throughout each session. In addition we also offer a Teen Adventure Program and Teen Sailing Program.  Both of these programs are tripping programs and spend very little time at resident camp.  Applicants interested in either of the teen programs must be 25 years of age, have a valid drivers license and confident to drive a right hand drive, 14 passenger van with manual transmission.   

Staff one week training starts on the 17^th of June and finishes on Saturday the 25^th (the day before our first campers arrive).  Our first session is a one week program and a great introduction to Camp California for first time campers.  The following 8 weeks of camp are all two week sessions.  Camp ends with a 4 night and 5 day family camp.  A great opportunity for the entire family to experience Camp California together.

The majority of our staff have experience working at camps in the US.  Not all and it is not required!  We are looking for a variety of positions to fill at Camp California.  Most of our staff are Cabin Counselors/Activity instructors at our resident camp.  Each cabin has 10 campers, all the same age/grade with two counselors in each cabin. We try and have one native English speaking Counselor in each cabin.  Counselors teach between 4 and 5 hours a day in the activities they are most qualified or experienced in on top of the cabin responsibility for their 10 campers. 

If you decide to apply you will need to be able to teach, or assist in teaching one or more activities.  For most you do not have to have a certificate or qualification but if you do……… It can’t hurt!

Also available are a few positions in support staff.  Mainly in grounds keeping/driver  and  night watchman.  

Counselor salaries starts at €130 per week for first time counselors at Camp California. Depending on the number of years at Camp California and the position held salaries increase from there. 

Available at an addition fee (depending on the country you are applying from) CCUSA can provide you with work/travel insurance for your time at camp and even before and after your summer. 

Staff working for Camp California are responsible for transportation to one of the following cities.  We pick up from there:  Umag, Venice, Trieste Ljubljana, Zagreb and Pula.

Staff from most countries do not need a work visa to work at Camp California.  Arriving under a tourist visa is sufficient. However staff from South Africa, Russia or the Ukraine will need visas to enter Croatia. Staff have 24 hours off each with additional regularly scheduled hours off each day.  However if you have worked at camp before then you know how hard the job can be at times.

Camp California is in Savudrija, about 10 minutes from Umag in Istria and about three hours from Venice Italy.  We are on the Adriatic sea so you can imagine the weather is fantastic and the water is warm.
