Job Description: Special Needs Counselors, Assistant Therapists and Lead Therapists
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follow instructions and guidance from the lead therapist in the group.
- Help make and/or retrieve any needed materials for language activities.
- Collect needed data for each child
- Participate in peer team meetings, as needed.
- Interact with other team members regarding treatment plan to ensure consistency, as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Builds excellent rapport with clients easily
- Ability to interact with parents on a daily basis
- Strong listening, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and act effectively on various circumstances without immediate direction
- Self-confidence/perseverance/strong work ethic-remain positive and maintain progress toward a goal in spite of obstacles and adversity
- Trustworthiness, dependability, and demonstrated ethical behavior
- Ability to organize and act on several activities concurrently
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Rate is $15 per hour
· Time requirement is 2:30-4:30 Monday-Friday, July 5th –August 24th.
· Each assistant therapist is responsible for one, two-hour sessions (2:30-4:30) a day.

Lead Therapists:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assess the client’s social/pragmatic skills using the specific subtests of the ABLLS assessment. Assessment instructions and books will be provided.
- Co-design the client's goals and objectives for camp and create an easy to run program and data sheet for data collection.
- Implement fun and functional language activities. Most materials will be provided.
- Provide guidance and instruction to the assistant therapist in each group.
- Observe and interact with clients to detect any maladaptive behaviors interfering with his/her ability to learn and consult with co-workers and parents to design a simple behavior management programs (i.e. token board, star chart and/or positive reinforcement).
- Participate in peer team meetings as needed.
- Write brief (3-4 sentences) session notes in clients communication notebooks.
- Debrief parents on client's progress with assigned cases.
- Interact with other specialists and service providers assigned to client's case concerning treatment plan to ensure consistency, as needed.
- Refer client to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling, as needed.
