Description
The Double H Ranch, founded by Paul Newman and Charlie Wood in 1992 and situated on the shore of Lake Vanare in Lake Luzerne, NY, provides year-round fun and emotional support to children ages 6-16 facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses. All campers attend free of charge, and are at all times under the loving care of a competent staff of doctors and nurses, and a caring and well-trained group of camp counselors.
We are seeking the following for summer 2007:
AUDIO/VISUAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST with a background in computers, sound-recording, photography/video recording to work with our campers in creating music, videos, and slideshows each week at camp.
OUTDOOR EXTREME PROGRAM SPECIALIST with a background in camping, hiking, and outdoor education. You will have the opportunity to create programs and activities for children involving aspects of our surroundings in the
LIFEGUARDS & AQUATICS DIRECTOR with lifeguarding certification (WSI preferred if possible) who will run our aquatics programs. We have an indoor & outdoor pool and a waterfront area for boating and fishing which you will be responsible to run and maintain throughout the summer.
DISCOVERY HANDS-ON SCIENCE PROGRAM SPECIALIST with a background in science, environmental studies, or just a general enthusiasm for exploring different types of hands-on activities with our campers. This role is given much creative flexibility!
For all of these positions, you will also acclimate into a cabin as a counselor when you are not in your program area. The best way to describe this is as more of a "life experience" than a job, and is an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the life of a special needs child.
Camp/employment dates run from June 10th to August 24th. The position is full-time residential. Room and board is included, and the salary is approx. $300 per week.
