Description

Guided Discoveries is a non-profit outdoor educational organization. Founded in 1978, Guided Discoveries provides hands-on science learning experiences for public and private schools. Schools may attend one of five programs. The Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) operates at Toyon Bay, Cherry Cove, Fox Landing, and aboard the tall ship TOLE MOUR, while Astrocamp operates in Idyllwild, California.

The CIMI program teaches marine science and island ecology on beautiful Santa Catalina Island, while Astrocamp teaches astronomy and space technology in the San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild. During the sumer months, summer camp programs are offered at Toyon and Astrocamp. We have taught over 300,000 students since 1978 and currently serve over 45,000 students each year. The success of our programs is due to the quality of our staff. Over the years, many employees have left their mark upon our programs through ideas and insights that improved the quality of instruction, food, facilities, and administration.

We look for employees who take pride in their work and are capable of thriving in a residential situation. The work can be hectic and difficult, but it is highly rewarding. Because the mountains and the ocean are such integral parts of the facilities, our employees often bring a love for the outdoors with them, or they quickly develop one.
Guided Discoveries takes an environmentally conscious approach to operating our facilities and presents this philosophy to the students who participate in the programs.
If you can thrive in such an environment, we look forward to hearing from you.
