Roughing It Day Camp and Horse Camp Programs celebrate 37 years of helping children to grow in wonderful ways! Our traditional, all-outdoor summer camp is located on a 900-acre lakefront site in the San Francisco East Bay Area. Day Camp activities emphasize skills, confidence, and team building, and include: horseback riding, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, arts and crafts, sports, outdoor adventure and many more!
Roughing It also operates three specialty Horseback Riding Programs, an English Riding camp and two Western Riding camps. Roughing It’s programs are accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA), and have been making a difference in the lives of children since 1972.
All staff members serve as supervisors and role models to Roughing It campers. Group and Program Counselors are responsible for lesson planning, camper evaluations, and communicating with parents. Administrators and Directors plan and implement camp programs and are also required to train and supervise staff members in the variety of camp activities areas.
Roughing It Day Camp and Horse Camp Programs seek to hire individuals who would like to join us in making a difference in the lives of children! All staff must be at least 18 years of age and able to commit to working the entire 2009 summer season, June 15 - August 14.
Staff members should have previous experience working with children in a camp, recreational, or educational environment, and have the ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications. Some of our staff are also required to obtain additional certifications depending on positions of interest. Applicants should be flexible, friendly, and comfortable spending their days outdoors.
