Description

Since 1966, Seacamp has opened up the world of marine science exploration and SCUBA diving to teens 12-17 from all over the world. Located on Big Pine Key in the lower half of the beautiful Florida Keys, Seacamp is nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean offering access to unique underwater environments, where campers investigate spectacular sponge flats, diverse seagrass beds, unique coral and algae shoals and the amazing coral reef located at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary, all teeming with fascinating marine life right at your fingertips. All of this is offered just 120 miles south of Miami and 30 miles east of Key West. Campers come to us from all over the world to spend their summer with us in one or more of our three 18-day sessions. Working alongside our staff, they create their own daytime schedule. Marine science is the heart of Seacamp and Exploration of the Seas, Reef Fish Ecology, Marine Aquaria, Fisheries Science, and Coral Reef Ecology are just some of the 24 courses offered each session. As a NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) training facility, qualified campers may earn their Basic or Master Diver SCUBA certification. Those campers already certified can participate in one of our many marine science/SCUBA courses. The fun doesn’t stop there- campers can learn to sail away in gorgeous Newfound Harbor or the more adventuresome can try their hand at windsurfing. For a break from the sun, we offer various Creative Expressions programs including model boat building, arts & crafts, and writing for Seascope, the camp newspaper. Evening program is a mix of activities for the whole camp, ranging from campfires, dances & movies to science labs and science speakers, some of whom are world-renowned experts in their fields. The health and welfare of our campers is of utmost importance at Seacamp. There is 24 hour-a-day supervision complete with Nurses in our health center, and our staff to camper ratio is 3:1. Staff participates in a month-long training program prior to camper arrival, and our science instructors have their degrees in marine biology or a related field. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff, like our campers, come to us from around the globe and want to spend their summer sharing their love of camp and passion for the ocean with our campers. Seacamp is accredited by the American Camp Association. So if you can see yourself spending your summer in paradise in and on gorgeous clear blue water of the Keys, making friends from around the world, and sharing experiences that others can only dream of, you’ve just imagined a summer at Seacamp.
