Description

The Pittsburgh Project is a nonprofit community development organization with a 23-year track record of developing leaders and serving the city’s most vulnerable residents. Our year-round staff of 60 operate a progressive series of afterschool programs for urban young people, deploy over 2500 people annually to perform free home repairs for Pittsburgh’s in-need elderly homeowners, outfit college students for urban service and leadership, and spearhead economic development and anti-violence efforts in our Pittsburgh neighborhood. We hire dozens of talented people each summer for paid positions across all our programs. Folks come from all walks of life to work here, including retirees, college students, neighbors, teachers, and youthworkers. Three things they share in common are a deep faith in God, a passion for developing leaders, and caring for our city’s most vulnerable people. Our summer jobs are engaging, fun, and filled with daily opportunities for relational ministry among kids, senior citizens, and neighbors. We train you for a full week or more, so you’ll be well-prepared. We serve meals while programs are in session, and we have free housing in dorm-style suites (with private bathrooms) if you need it. Our staff worships together regularly, and relaxes together from time to time. You’ll make scores of friends while being part of a significant movement of God in the city.
