Summer Nurse

In coordination with the Director of Summer Student Life, the summer nurse is responsible for the general health and well being of the students attending the programs. The summer nurse will dispense needed prescription and non-prescription medication, ensure the physical and mental wellness of the students, and attend to any health issues that may arise. Specific duties are as follows:

• Nurse will be on-call 24 hours a day, by beeper, for the duration of the programs
• Operate Health Center for students Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Set up Health Center so as to maintain a clean and efficient environment
• Facilitate an informal first aid session for incoming Resident Advisors and administrators
• Collect and keep records of all students' medications, and dispense them as directed by ordering physician
• Keep accurate records of all students' medical records, as collected by the Office of Summer Student Life
• Work with a team of student life members who assist and support the health and wellness of students in the programs
• Any other health related duties, as assigned by the Director of Summer Student Life

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse and/or Nurse practitioner licensed in Massachusetts
• Demonstrated ability and desire to work with teenagers
• Demonstrated superior clinical assessment skills, and a desire and ability to work independently
• Background in mental health and psychological studies
• Leadership and organizational skills
• Current CPR Certification

Compensation

• Based on experience
• Meals for the duration of the contract

Willing to consider the appointment of multiple part-time positions to fulfill needed coverage.
