Job Description

Responsibilities include: Working CAMP hours! If you have ever worked a camp before you know what this means. Camp Director is a 24-hour job 7 days a week for the duration of camp and training week. Even when you are off you are living in the dorms and on call in the case of emergencies 24 hours a days.

    Responsible for:
  • Overseeing classes
  • All staff and Student discipline issues
  • Coordination with on site faculty, staff and administration
  • Running staff meetings
  • Checking in with counselors
  • Scheduling, staff and camp
  • Managing a small team of assistant directors, whom you will delegate to.
  • Leading all-camp meetings Setting the stage for the summer, SAFE AND FUN
Running a camp is like leading an orchestra. You must see everything that is going on around you. You must manage people, time, money and stress for a united front that portrays strength, comfort, joy and excitement about every minute of camp.     Details:
  • Multi-week programs, sessions, and a training period on-site
  • All room and board provided and required attendance
  • Supervising: staff from 2 to 30 employees and a camp student body from 10 to 200 students depending on location and date
  • Pay commensurate with experience
  • Dates: Typically in July and perhaps late June too depending on location
  • Opportunity for hourly setup work in the month of June out of the Brooklyn office as well as weekly time to work in the Brooklyn office for prep, parent communications and staff interviews.

    Applicant must be / have:
  • At least 25 years of age
  • 2 seasons of camp administration experience preferred but not required.
  • A Bachelors Degree
  • Organized
  • Ability to display clear confident leadership
  • Good public speaker
  • Ability to delegate
  • Multitask
  • Experience with youth leadership
  • Preferred, Teaching experience
  • Preferred, Attended a camp as a child/teen
