Job Description
The Malden YMCA is seeking a Camp Director that can make a positive impact on the lives of our members and campers and provide leadership to the Youth & Family Department and camp programs including our day camp program Camp Madaca. Under the direction of the Director of Youth Development, the Y&F Director will coordinate and supervise the operations of these programs. This includes providing program implementation, support, maintaining certification records, hiring, training and scheduling staff, and assisting in ensuring safety and proper equipment maintenance. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for the hiring, training and development of all staff related to Camp Madaca programs. • This position will be expected to design, develop, and implement programs, activities, and events that will exceed the needs of the members and community as well as position the branch in a growth mode as it relates to program participation and membership. • Responsible for achieving the desired goals in units in all required areas. • Accountable for managing summer camp budgets and exceeding revenue and minimizing expense. • Required to develop new programs that will attract new members, participants and revenue. • Must be an energetic relationship builder with strong communication skills and be able to work with a diverse population. Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old and have 3 or more years of supervisory experience. Experience working with children is imperative including skills teaching children, teamwork, program planning and implementation. Requires participation with and leadership of youth in a wide variety of physical activities; including swimming and hiking (experience in Adventure Activities i.e., ropes, hiking, canoeing, etc. a plus w/certificates). Good communication skills are required; must be able to interact with families, parents and campers. A high degree of organizational skills and physical activity is required. Must be certified in First Aid and CPR. Salary & Benefits: This is a seasonal full time exempt position. The position will begin as a part-time position to prep for the camp. This period will involve other responsibilities on top of camp prep time. The pay will range from $14-$17/hour dependent on experience. Starting on June 16 the position will become a full- time seasonal exempt position. This position will earn a salaried rate offered during the part-time status until August 30, 2014.Job Criteria
