Passport NYC at 92nd Street Y seeks an organized, creative, passionate, progressive, and experienced Program Director for their Jewish values based residential (NYC based) summer camp! Teens from all over the world live in the Residence of 92Y, spend their morning following their passion in film, fashion, musical theater, culinary arts, or the music industry and their afternoons experiencing NYC, creating community, and exploring Jewish Identity. As the Program Director you are a central part of the senior leadership team responsible for creating and managing an emotionally and physically safe environment for all camp participants and staff. This includes (but is not limited to) staff training and supervision, program development and implementation. This is a live-on position in the residence of 92Y. Room, board, transportation around NYC, program expenses and summer salary included. Spring start (not live on), Summer dates: June 22-August 18, 2014. Program Director is responsible for coordinating and overseeing: Specialty Programming for Fashion, Film, Musical Theater, Music Industry and Culinary Arts programs, Service Learning Projects and Evening programs Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -The management and communication with lead instructors in each of the five specialties -Co-create daily morning instruction -Plan and coordinate (150) daily afternoon excursions, workshops, and speakers -Find, book and manage the appropriate rooms, workshop space, computers, labs, cameras, kitchens, fields, etc—for film, fashion, culinary arts, the music industry, and musical theater programs -Jewish Service Learning Coordinator -Plan Sunday community service projects for Passport NYC teens that connect to each specialty -In addition to Sunday Service Days---plan 5 service oriented afternoon activities a week for each of the service tracks -Organize social justice/giving back themed evening programs (1 each week) -Incorporate the Jewish values (w/ Jewish Educator) curriculum into camp programs Additional Responsibilities: -Work closely with Passport NYC Director -Create camp culture through role modeling -Act as the central communicator for all specialty partners, lead teachers and specialty staff -Coordinate logistics with speakers and other special guests, visits, etc. -Plan daily schedule from morning to lights out and beyond (incorporating the specialty and Jewish programs) -Organize daily participant and staff gatherings and activities to foster community -Plan evening and weekend social activities -Insure seamless transitions -Create and implement Staff Training programs during orientation week -Manage and oversee free time including the use of the May Center -Coordinate 92Y program space for chuggim (elective) and special programming experience -Conduct and organize pre and post evaluation as dictated by the Foundation for Jewish Camp -Other tasks as needed to ensure a successful summer camp Camp dates are June 22-August 18. Staff must live-on and work the entire summer.
