Job Description
Purpose of Program Leaders: To offer many and varied activities throughout the day that the vacationers will enjoy. Be responsible to assist their learning, challenge their abilities, be innovative, and look for new ideas. May also have responsibilities in a few different areas, eg winter sports, A+C, Music, recreation, climbing. Necessary Skills: Must have the ability to work well in a team as well as autonomously. Desire to think creatively and provide new, exciting programming options for campers. Willingness to learn new skills and be flexible in trying new activities to fit needs of a wide range of campers. Responsible to: Program Coordinator, Village Leader General Responsibilities of Program Leaders: 1. Responsible for preparations and presentation of activities appropriate to ages, interest and ability level or campers. Program Leaders will communicate with counselors to asses appropriate activities for each group. 2. Responsible for the planning and implementation of evening programs and all-camp programs. Will have at least one week as a co-leader, leading the program staff team in planning these events. 3. Ensure safety of assigned program area as well as shared program areas. Make staff and campers aware of the proper rules, regulations, and procedures in any activity. 4. Ensure safety of equipment. If equipment breaks and cannot be immediately fixed, take it out of service and report to the Program Coordinator or maintenance. 5. Provide a weekly supply list of anything needed for the next week’s planned activities. 6. Order all program supplies in advance through the Program Coordinator. 7. Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of assigned program area and program equipment. 8. Attend daily planning meetings and contribute ideas for daily activities including evening program, all-camp programs, and rainy day plans. 9. Attend bi-weekly scheduling meetings and assist with writing schedules. 10. Assist counselors in planning self-led activities. Provide ideas, supplies, and support to counselors in order to help them be successful in leading activities outside of program areas. 11. Responsible to work in assigned cabins and serve as relief staff when not directly involved in leading or preparing an activity. 12. Perform all in-cabin duties including personal care assistance, behavioral management, paperwork, and general camper interaction and support. 13. Inform counselors of schedule and programming responsibilities. 14. Write self evaluations to be discussed with the Program Coordinator. Prepare a written report at the end of the season on the specific program area. 15. Responsible for scheduled gate check and lights check. 16. Carry out assigned check in and check out duties. 17. Perform any miscellaneous duties as requested by the administrative staff.Job Criteria
