    Criminal Background Check a Must!
No camp director should avoid performing a criminal background check on their staff or volunteers this season due to time or price. To make sure every camp is able to afford this, we have lowered our price to help camp directors protect themselves and their campers.

    News You Can Use

    Summer Camp Reading
Hot, hot summer — it’s time to lounge about and indulge in summer magazines and books that the media likes to call — Best of Summer Reading — or Best of Summer Fiction . . . writes Stephen Winbaum – an invitation to the 2007 July Newsletter.

Massacre at Virginia Tech: A Community in Change
The task of transmitting theoretical camp ideals to students who are still emotionally traumatized is difficult, especially when you consider some have just lost their best friends or teachers in an environment they once regarded as safe – writes Camp Scholar and Virginia resident, Greg Cronin.

    Serious issue - Simple solution
Studies support the positive connection between healthy development and education with increased activity and participation in dynamic, adventurous activities . . . writes Lynda Fishman, Executive Director, Adventure Valley Day Camp.

    Expect the Unexpected
It has been my personal experience that staff responds more effectively when they understand why. Understanding why is easiest when there is a dialogue and an opportunity to participate in the development of procedures and plans – writes ACA Risk Management Expert – Ed Schirick.

    One Last Thing

    Redefining "Cool"
Kids are confronted on a daily basis in their neighborhoods, at school, and on television with role models sending the message that the unkind person is cool. They think "Is this what cool really looks like? Do I have to act like a jerk to get into the cool kids club?" — comments Barbara Gilmore, Creator of Tanner’s Manners, in her premier Camp Scholar and Newsletter article.

    Protect Your Campers
Mediaplayer helps parents protect their investment by providing cancellation insurance in case their child cannot attend camp. Camp Directors who traditionally would lose that child's tuition are protected as well.

Camp Directors can direct their campers to, signing up is simple and inexpensive.
