Exploring New Horizons at Sempervirens
Set in the Santa Cruz Mountains on a ridge-top meadow surrounded by coastal redwood trees, Exploring New Horizons at Sempervirens is the perfect location for your group’s next retreat, training, conference, or summer camp. Minutes from Big Basin State Park and less than an hour from Santa Cruz, our 17-acre site has a dining hall, campfire stage, picnic area and cabins to accommodate groups of up to 132 individuals. Play volleyball, tetherball, horseshoes, or basketball. Explore the organic garden, swim in the pool, do group challenges on the low ropes course, or hike on our trails which wind through a mixed redwood, madrone, oak, and Douglas fir forest.
Exploring New Horizons at Sempervirens is a program of Exploring New Horizons Outdoor Schools which runs residential outdoor education programs at three facilities. During the school year, Sempervirens hosts 5th and 6th grade students for a week of outdoor education, but we have a number of weekend, winter and summer dates available to rent the entire site.
Sempervirens is located on Highway 236 just 2.5 miles from the headquarters of Big Basin State Park and 6.5 miles from Boulder Creek. Scattered throughout the trees and meadow are 12 heated cabins, 2 large campfire stage areas, a swimming pool, a low ropes challenge course, a sand volleyball court, hiking trails, a dining hall, restrooms, an organic garden and a huge meadow for games and sports.
