In 1978, Nick Bollettieri pioneered the concept of a tennis boarding school that combined athletic training and academic education into one integrated curriculum. In 1987, IMG bought the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy.  Nick Bollettieri’s approach to teaching was so successful that by 1993 this comprehensive training approach was expanded to additional sports – golf, soccer, baseball and basketball. Today, IMG Academies' divisions include: The Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, The David Leadbetter Golf Academy, the IMG Soccer Academy, the IMG Baseball Academy, the IMG Basketball Academy, the IMG Swimming Academy, and the IMG Performance Institute (IPI).

The IMG Basketball Academy provides the most unique training environment in the world of basketball today. We focus on the individual player, building skill sets from the ground up, and giving players the tools they need to compete against higher level competition. Using game-like drills and teaching situations, our coaching staff is able to bring out the best in each athlete. Teaching both fundamental and advanced techniques and tactics, the same player development specialists that work on the floor with NBA All-Stars also work with all IMG Basketball Academy players, creating a training environment that is second-to-none.

Our program provides players the basketball skills necessary to excel, the physical and athletic capabilities to perform the these skills at an elite level, the mental approach required to produce and sustain that high level of performance on a daily basis, and the nutritional knowledge and lifestyle habits necessary to unleash potential and maximum performance.  Each day, our staff will emphasize this formula for success and the importance of “living like a pro” to maximize results on the basketball court.

In recent years, our unique and effective approach to training has been experienced by some of the best players in the game of basketball – from established NBA stars Vince Carter and Kevin Martin – to the rising stars of high school and college basketball.  The same approach to training will be applied to every participant at the IMG Basketball Academy, producing players who are prepared for maximum performance at the high school, college and professional level.
       
The IMG Basketball Academy staff will focus on each individual player, creating a customized program to maximize his/her total development as a basketball player.  Through detailed analysis of individual skills, goals and needs, every drill on the court, each prescribed exercise, lift or movement, as well as all mental preparation, nutritional plans and off-court lifestyle programs, are designed to produce maximum, sustained results on the basketball court and give each player the best chance to reach their potential.
