English Lessons and Workshops: At Action in English qualified teachers use effective, modern techniques to create interesting, enjoyable lessons. Teachers assist with the activity programme to ensure that the learning of English continues well beyond the classroom.
Students are placed by ability to a maximum of 15 in each class. A careful balance of activities is designed to increase the students’ grammar and vocabulary and improve their skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Elementary classes employ a practical, multi-sensory approach, teaching English through art, crafts, songs, games, movement, etc. This is combined with repetition to aid memory.
Intermediate and Advanced classes use the students' individual and national differences for discussion, debate and writing. Teaching materials include English Literature, current affairs, environment and health issues. There is also an element of learner training, which helps students to think about their personal motivation, preferred learning styles and take more responsibility for their own learning.
All classes use pair and group work to maximise the opportunity to speak. Games, music, role-play, computers and multimedia make the lessons varied and fun. Out of class project work helps to put English into practice in the real world while increasing students’ awareness and appreciation of the world around them. Parents receive an electronic progress report from their child’s class teacher at the end of each week.
Sports and Activities: A choice of professionally coached sports and social
activities are arranged each afternoon and evening appropriate to the age group of each course. The emphasis is on learning new skills and having fun, within a safe, supervised environment, so that the children make friends, develop confidence and practise English.
The following are all included in the course fee:
Afternoons - Swimming, water polo, tennis, football, basketball, cricket, volleyball, unihoc, badminton, table tennis and rounders.
Evenings - Discos, karaoke, team strategy games, casino night, quiz night, blind date, barbecues, fashion show, films, drama and dance.
