DescriptionBack to top

Since 1969, Cannon Music Camp has offered the most comprehensive course of musical instruction in the Southeast, with intensive college preparatory work in performance and music theory.

Ensemble performance is stressed, and a variety of experiences in choir, orchestra, band, jazz, and chamber music are provided. Equally important is the one-on-one instruction each camper receives in his or her weekly one-hour private lessons.

Held on the campus of Appalachian State University, the camp is open to serious music students who have completed grades 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12, providing a four-week, music-filled retreat in North Carolina's magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains.

We offer four levels of music theory. All campers will be placed into a level that meets them where they are (musically speaking) and helps them grow into a deeper understanding of how music is put together. These classes meet Monday through Friday.

Cannon Music Camp operates from the philosophy that student musicians of all ability levels can achieve life-changing results when provided with a supportive and nurturing musical environment that focuses on building a broad range of musical skills through participation in intensive individual, ensemble, and classroom instruction.
