Jim Fabris, Master Writing Teacher, is offering creative writing workshops for youth who want to explore and develop their writing ability over the summer break.  Workshop fee: $200 per session.

Session 1: Memoir Writing

Jim will lead the group through a series of games and activities designed to help young writers mine their memories and other true stories for great writing ideas.

Participants will:

transform unforgettable experiences into unforgettable pieces of writing

create compelling descriptions by appealing to all five of the readers senses

identify important life turning points and use writing to reflect on their meaning

Session 2: Fiction Writing

The group will engage in activities to spark the young writers imaginations, so they can create original works of fiction.

Participants will learn how to:

        develop complex three dimensional characters

create compelling plots that are rooted in the characters conflicts

write dramatic and dynamic dialogue that both develops the characters and pushes the plot forward

Both sessions will provide group activities, individual writing time, and sharing time.  Creative freedom will always be valued and encouraged.
