Based in Berkeley, California, Edu-Culture International works in conjunction with AGI, a non-profit educational travel organization. With additional offices in Europe & Costa Rica, we are dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding between young people throughout the world.
ECI’s staff and volunteers are highly trained professionals with a background in education who have successfully organized educational travel programs in Spain, France, Costa Rica & the US since 1998.
We specialize in summer Spanish language immersion programs for middle and high school students, and have 2 exciting summer study trips based in Costa Rica for 2009 and 2 fantastic Spring Break trips. These study programs provide unique opportunities for teens to learn Spanish in Costa Rica with the choice of staying with host families or in a small safe dormitory.
We have two fantastic programs from which to choose:
1. Students can participate in a 2-week Spanish language experience program designed for middle school students and high school freshmen in based in Grecia, a small, safe family-centered community in central Costa Rica. Students are divided by abilities, and class size is limited to only three! Accommodation is in a comfortable, small dormitory near the school.
2. High school students can choose a 3-week program with host family immersion, small group classes, and travel throughout Costa Rica with our Expedition Costa Rica Study Program.
Each offers specific characteristics designed to meet various interests and educational needs. The Expedition High School Program limits group size to 30 students and the Natural Wonders Middle School limits group size to 24. Both include three full-time adults: one trip leader and two additional chaperones. This is an ideal size in terms of student bonding, personal attention, organization, and safety – always our number one priority.
Our weekend excursions and half-day trips all incorporate the best of what Costa Rica has to offer!
High school students who are planning on applying to college in the near future know how important it is to have a strong application. With ECI’s study Expedition High School Program, teens can earn three semester units of credit in Spanish through an accredited US university. These credits are transferable to any university, and are accepted by most universities in the United States.
ECI’s Language Partners are an exciting feature of our Costa Rica language and culture programs!
