Welcome to Jr. Discovery at Georgetown University, in Washington D.C., a unique 3 week summer enrichment experience for teenagers completing grades 6, 7 and 8. At Jr. Discovery Georgetown, learning is everywhere - in the classroom, dorm room, dining hall, on-stage, the tennis court or ball field, on trips and excursions, and the daily interaction between peers, dynamic teachers and Resident Counselors.  Students will participate in a variety of trips and excursions, throughout Washington D.C. and East Coast that will take them to the Baltimore, Maryland Inner Harbor, Ocean City Beaches, the National Monuments, Capitol Hill, the National Aquarium and other locations in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Jr. Discovery offers enrichment courses to enhance both the mind and to encourage physical fitness.  These interactive workshop offerings are designed around the vas resources and personnel available at Georgetown and its surrounding areas.  This extraordinary campus is often used as our extended classroom.

Designed as a capital of “Magnificent Distances” by Frenchman Pierre L’Enfant, Washington is comprised of 4 quadrants with the U.S. Capital at the center. Students attending Jr. Discovery at Georgetown experience the best of many worlds. Georgetown is in Washington’s fashionable Northwest quadrant, a lively mix of gracious 18th and 19th century homes, cobblestone streets, brick sidewalks, contemporary cafés, coffee houses, ice cream parlors, theaters, boutiques, and the Georgetown Park Mall. The intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street has been called “the most happening place on earth.”

In addition, the “Capital of the Free World” is at our doorstep with literally hundreds of museums, concerts, theater productions, athletic events and attractions to choose from. Across the river and up the road are Virginia and Maryland with excellent attractions, mountains, beaches and more.

Since 1966, the Musiker Family has been directing outstanding educational experiences for teenagers. As parents ourselves, we realize middle school students are at an important crossroads in their development. Life poses many new challenges, opportunities, emotions, and rewards. Jr. Discovery is designed to facilitate a positive transition from adolescence to young adulthood, and from middle school to high school. Our innovative Skills for Mind and Body curriculum inspires independent thinking, creativity, personal growth, self-confidence, time management and life skills.

Additionally, through cooperative living and positive mentoring by a superb group of Resident Counselors, our students experience the finest, caring supervision, group dynamics, and mutual respect.

Best of all, Jr. Discovery is a summer of new friendships with students from all over the USA and the world. In the Jr. Discovery community, everyone is welcome and everyone belongs. We look forward to welcoming you to our community this summer.
