Lyric Opera San Diego proudly announces a new educational opportunity at the Stephen and Mary Birch North Park Theatre.  For the first time, Lyric Opera is offering a five-week summer intensive training program for Middle School and High School students who are seriously considering a career in the performing arts.  Students will participate in Acting, Voice and Dance classes, as well as in rehearsals for a condensed version of Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance , which will be performed at the beautiful Birch North Park Theatre.  Our goal is for our students to leave our program prepared with skills, materials and the confidence to approach auditions and performances in a professional manner, understanding that theatre is not only fun, but that it requires hard work and discipline.  We believe that success in this field is not only a matter of talent, but a matter of heart; a desire and enthusiasm to work hard, meet deadlines, take direction, experiment and try new approaches, but most importantly, to enjoy the process.
