ADVENTURE CAMP SERIES

Junior Adventure Camp (ages 7-8)
    Junior Adventure Camp creates an inclusive community that blends self-esteem, fosters friendships, and opens doors of discovery and fun for every camper. Our directors and counselors create an environment where campers can be themselves while making friends and enjoying new experiences. Campers will be immersed in fun activities from enlightening enrichments to our very own carnival on Mercersburg’s campus. Other activities include kayaking, biking, tubing and array of sports. Campers will also enjoy an awesome day at Hersheypark for some wild rides and sweet games. A Junior Adventure Camper is sure to gain self confidence during this first overnight camp experience.

Mercersburg Adventure Camp (ages 8-14)
    Adventure Camp is 2 weeks of non-stop fun that kids will talk about for years. Join Camera Crew to write, direct and star in your own short film or battle in Iron Chef to make the tastiest treats. Kayak lakes and rivers, scale a 34-foot climbing wall, or learn to survive in Wilderness Skills. Enjoy the thrills of a top-notch amusement park and whitewater raft one of the best rivers in the area. Cap off the action packed days with great campfires, s’mores, and crazy camp competitions. MAC’s unique structure provides just the right balance of enrichment challenges, sports, outdoor adventures, and fun trips to make every session wild, wonderful, and memorable.

The Great Adventure (ages 14-16)
The Great Adventure is designed as the capstone of the adventure camp series for young adults ages 14-16. No previous adventure camp experience required, participants will be taken on excursions and led through programming relevant to and intended for teenagers with all backgrounds and a variety of interests. The Great Adventure takes our group white water rafting on the Youghiogheny River, caving at Laurel Caverns,to Hersheypark,up on a high ropes course, and bowling amongst many other awesome outings. Additionally, our enrichment curriculum allows those interested in digital photography, science, comedy and art to pursue their passion in a fun and relaxed environment. While at Mercersburg, campers are asked to discard the segmented, predictable structure of a young person’s life and approach everyday at camp as an opportunity to make a connection with a fellow camper, try something new, and learn about oneself.

ENRICHMENT AND THE ARTS

Young Writers Camp (grades 7-10)
Don’t be fooled by the name, this camps is all about having fun and being creative. Build writing skills for the real world and unleash your creativity in a setting that caters to young writers who expect more than a classroom experience. Young Writers Camp is founded on the principle that language is at the core of everything that we do and our campers learn new and liberating ways to express themselves through the written word.

Summer Theatre Workshop (grades 6-9)
Did you know that Mercersburg has produced two Academy Award winners?   Don’t miss the chance to develop your talent, showcase your acting range, and extend your knowledge of voice and movement on that same stage. Explore and expand your awareness of the many elements of theatre in one dynamic week that brings the stage and young people together. Young performers will gain skills in improvisation, stage presence, body movement, vocal techniques, character development, ensemble work and problem solving. This unique experience also exposes actors to the technical elements of lighting, sound, make-up and costume design.
