Facilities: Students are accommodated in twin rooms, divided by age and gender, in the University residence, with complete washroom and shower facilities on each floor. Programme staff stays on the same residence floors, ensuring that an adult is available at all times. Meals are served in a modern dining hall with meal options including an open salad bar, a drink fountain and ice-cream. Common areas for recreational use are available on each floor.
Our campers can choose from a variety of afternoon as well as evening activities and participate in scheduled excursions as well as in optional activities.
Scheduled Afternoon Activities: Athletic Centre (fitness, swimming, ball & racquet sports, pilates, yoga etc), City walking tours of various neighborhoods and places of interest, Local festivals and artisan markets, Internet Caf (usage fees apply), Interactive and social games on campus, Shopping.
Scheduled Evening Programme: Amazing Race, Board and Card Games, Capture the Flag, Dances, Improv Nights, In-house videos, Karaoke, Magic Show, Scavenger hunts, Sports challenges, Summer festivals, Talent shows, Theatre.
Scheduled Excursions: 1 full day, 1 half day and 1 cultural excursion per week are included in the programme. Full day excursions include trips to the Niagara Falls with Maid of the Mist boat tour, Canadas Wonderland, a Canadiana Experience and a Wasaga Beach Day. Half day excursions include visits to local places of interest such as the Historic Distillery District & CN Tower, a Disco Boat Cruise on Lake Ontario, Toronto Zoo, and a Blue Jays Baseball Game. Cultural excursions may include excursions to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Royal Ontario Museum, to Local Toronto Festival at the Harbourfront, and to the Gardiner Museum. Transportation and admission fees to attractions are included.
Optional Activities: Additionally, students may choose to participate in optionals by signing up for the activities of their choice. Minimal charges apply to cover transportation, equipment and/or admission fees. Optional activities may include: Bata Shoe Museum, Bowling, Casa Loma, Canoeing on Lake Ontario, Discos, Fort York, Go-Karting, Hockey Hall of Fame, Laser Quest, Medieval Times, Mini-golf, Movies, Paintball, Playdium, Science Centre and Shopping. Specific activities offered are dependent upon session dates and duration. All activities are fully supervised by camp staff.
Language Instruction: The educational language programme at St. Michaels is challenging yet fun an exciting. ESL is available for international students as well as Canadian students whose first language is not English. Either 20 standard weekly hours of ESL or 25 intensive hours (extra fee) are taught by qualified instructors in small classes with maximum 15 students. Placement testing upon arrival on the first full day of programme ensures that students are in the most-appropriate language level.
