Summer Business Institute
Summer Address:

The Summer Business Institute (SBI) trains the future CEOs, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders of America. This year, ABL will offer four 7-week SBI sessions (June 29th - August 14th), one 4-week SBI session (July 24th - August 14th), and two 4-week Junior SBI session (June 29th - July 24th at CSUF and July 20th - August 14th at UCLA) in 2009.
In our programs, we unlock our students’ passion and genius through immersion in a college environment, instruction by top MBA graduates and college students from prestigious universities, and access and exposure at the highest levels to Fortune 500 corporations, major institutions, and leaders of our time. We give all our students a ten-to-twenty year head start, inspiring them to see themselves as Leaders NOW™ who will rise to become the future corporate, entrepreneurial, social entrepreneurial, and civic leaders of America and the world, while inculcating in them the value of giving back NOW. We ignite our students’ passion for learning, prosperity building, and giving back through a new paradigm of self-perception and empowerment. Students in our program come from various socio-economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds and range in age from 10 to 19 which add to ABL’s rich culture of diversity. We are proud of our results: 100% of our students graduate from high school and a remarkable 98% of them go on to pursue post-secondary education at universities across the country.
SBI participants are hosted on seven college campuses: University of Southern California (USC), California State University at Long Beach (CSULA) , California State University at Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), California State University at Fullerton (CSUF), Santa Monica College (SMC), University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA - added in 2007), and Loyola Mary Mount University (LMU - added in 2008.)

Summer Business Institute – 7 Week Programs – June 29, 2009 to August 14, 2009
Cost: $9,600 (Early registration discount of 30% if applying by March 30, 2009. Discount cost: $6,720) Scholarships available up to 100%.
The Academy of Business Leaderships flagship program, now running for 11 years is offered at: University of Southern California (USC), California State University at Long Beach (CSULA) , California State University at Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), California State University at Fullerton (CSUF), and Loyola Mary Mount University (LMU - added in 2008.) This program is available to incoming 5th – 12th graders. This program offers over 225 classroom hours of instruction by top MBA instructors on 9 different tracts. We give every future entrepreneur the opportunity to develop and present their own business idea and present it to a distinguished panel of business executives and venture capitalist. We also further develop the students’ interest in finance and investment through an intense study of the stock market. Each student manages their own fictitious $100,000 stock portfolio, buying and selling throughout the seven week program. We also further develop within each student their communication and leadership skills with opportunities to network with top level executive while going on up to 8 different field trips to Fortune 500 companies. This opportunity gives each student a 10 – 20 year head start from there peers in the areas of finance, business, investments and leadership.
Summer Business Institute – 4 Week Program – University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) – June 29, 2009 to July 24, 2009. Cost: $5,485 (Early registration discount of 30% if applying by March 30, 2009. Discount cost: $3,840). Scholarships available up to 100%.
For those students who cannot commit to a seven week program, ABL for the first time this year has developed a program that will focus primarily on starting your own business and writing a business plan, personal finance and financial literacy. With over 120 hours of classroom instruction from top MBA instructors, the student will develop the skills necessary not only to develop their own enterprise but effectively lead, and manage it as well. Students will also have the opportunity to go on up to 5 different field trips to a number of Fortune 500 companies in the Los Angeles area and prominent guest speakers on business and finance throughout the four week program. The event culminates with a chance for the students to showcase their business ideas to a panel of distinguished business executives and venture capitalist. This program is available to incoming 5th – 12th graders.
Jr. Summer Business Institute – 4 Week Programs
California State University at Fullerton (CSUF) – June 29, 2009 to July 24, 2009
University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) – July 20, 2009 to August 14, 2009
Cost: $5,485 (Early registration discount of 30% if applying by March 30, 2009. Discount cost: $3,840). Scholarships available up to 100%.
Due to popular demand, ABL is pleased to introduce a 4 week Jr. SBI debuting at UCLA and CSUF specifically for our younger (incoming grades 5th-8th) students. This program takes the more intense applications in the seven week program and teaches them in a way that is understandable and applicable to junior high aged students. The program creates a fun environment in which the student develops their leadership and business skills and further enhances their keen desire for business and entrepreneurship. The Jr. SBI also offers up to 5 fieldtrips to a number of local Fortune 500 companies and prominent guest speakers on business and finance throughout the four week program. Just like the other programs, the Jr. SBI event culminates with a chance for the students to showcase their business ideas to a panel of distinguished business executives and venture capitalist.
Mandatory orientation is June 27th and graduation is August 22nd for all SBI programs despite start and finish dates.
