Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center
Summer Address:

Traditional overnight camps, located in forest (Tanglewood) or seaside (Blueberry Cove) locations, plug young people in to experience friendships, outdoor discovery, self-confidence and a sense of belonging. All sessions (except sailing) offer campers choice in their “focus” area for the week, as well as nature exploration, games, overnights to shelters, time to play and “siesta.” Cabins are simple and rustic; meals are homemade, healthy and end with visits to our garden composting sites, laughter, and silly songs!
Former campers think our camps are special because: “the place is so funny & has a joyous atmosphere,” “I learned to trust, became more self-confident, & learned to listen,” “I loved my cabin mates & counselors,” “I have learned to accept others as they are & work with what I have,” and “the food is yummy.”
Our camps are special because they are communities where laughter, music and fun, respect for others, safety, sustainable living, responsibility, and environmental awareness combine to create a sense of wonder. Campers make new friends, participate in decision making, play and learn outdoors, and feel good knowing they can be themselves!
We believe that our camp staff is the key to a successful program. Our staff is chosen for their personality, creativity, maturity, experience and knowledge. Their understanding of youth, leadership ability, first-aid skills and sensitivity to the Earth provide a safe, nurturing and enjoyable experience for all.
UMaine's Cooperative Extension outreach programs and its 4H activities are designed for youth. Tanglewood's camp adventures and public school programs are based on "Earth Connections," nature discovery that helps youth become creative stewards of an interconnected world.
Our programs are affiliated with the University of Maine Cooperation Extension. Tanglewood in Lincolnville is American Camp Association (ACA) accredited.
