The Turtle camp is designed to be fun, educational and is vitally important for our environment. Turtle Camp 2008 will be hosted at Villas DeRosa Resort and is sponsored by S.A.V.E. "Turtle Camp" is designed for kids age 8 to 15, but families are also encouraged to experience the camp. Akumal, is just an hour south of the Cancun International Airport on the beautiful Yucatan Peninsula, in the coastline known as the Riviera Maya. This small community with white sandy beaches, sun, surf and swaying palm trees is also a heaven for turtles. The Society of Akumal's Vital Ecology is a non profit organization that is helping to protect the fragile ecosystem of this coastline and their especial communities. Night Watch S.A.V.E. will organize nightly groups to search for mothers turtles laying eggs on Aventuras Akumal stretch of Beach in front of your room. Nests are marked for protection until hatchling, and upon hatching the baby turtles are cared for their rush to the sea.
