DescriptionBack to top

Shakespearience programme, which runs Saturdays from September 30 to December 2, will give youth between the ages of 8 and 13 an exciting opportunity to immerse themselves in the dramatic arts with a special focus on William Shakespear's works. Through hands-on workshops such as design, movement activities, improvisation, music, and scene study, participants will learn about Shakespeare's life and times, his plays, and most importantly how to be a Shakespearean actor! Campers will perform a Shakespearean piece at Jackson Square, where family and friends can come and see the performance free of charge.
HUTA is committed to downtown Hamilton and to our neighborhood youths. This programme is made accessible to the public with a no-cost to the student mandate. We are working with local organizations and teachers in city schools to identify and select the students who would most benefit from and enjoy our program. The program will develop communication skills, self confidence, and create within our campers a communal awareness through Shakespeare's words and characters. The program fosters an academic confidence that will aid the campers in their transition into high school. Limited spacing assures a personal team building experience where no one is lost in the crowd and more importantly no one is left out. The camp offers a structured environment, one with passionate and experienced actors. In sharing this experience and being able to expand our company, HUTA is privileged to work with like minded young people; ones that adore the dramatic arts and share a passion for expression.
