North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, Rustic YMCA Camp with Tropical Surf

Come join us in warm, sunny Hawaii, at our YMCA camp located on the shores of the blue Pacific, on the North Shore of Oahu. You will have the time of your life doing physically and mentally challenging activities at our rustic camp setting, as you take in the breathtaking scenery from the mountains to the ocean. Staying in a cabin only steps from the clean, sandy beach and tropical surf. Take time to relax and absorb the beautiful environment found only in Hawaii.

Facility and Staff

Camp Erdman offers various programs all year round. We are a great place for any type of group that wants to participate in programs that focus on teaching values, developing life skills, and building character in a safe, fun, and multicultural setting. Facilities include a dining hall, several meeting halls, swimming pool, and cabins with approximately 300 beds. Camp Erdman provides traditional activities such as swimming, basketball, archery, and hiking, as well as low and high ropes courses, and a climbing tower. Environmental education, crafts, and story-telling around the campfire are also available as part of the camp experience.

 

Program staff are all CPR/FirstAid Lifeguard certified. All the resident cabins are secure building with 24 hours adult supervision and night security. The Emergency Medical Center is just 15 minutes by car from the camp.

 

Accommodation

There are ocean-side and mountain-side cabins. Ocean-side cabins accommodate up to 48 people, two of which have basic kitchen facility. Each mountain-side cabin accommodate up to 16 people. All the cabins have bunk-style beds and bathrooms with hot and cold running shower.

 

Meals

Three meals a day are provided by food service at Camp Erdman’s dinning hall. The menu has a wide variety of traditional Hawaiian food to American food. Any dietary needs can be accommodated if requested in advance.

Camp Store

Camp Erdman’s camp store sells variety of beverages, snacks, ice cream, and some basic necessities. We also carry novelty items of YMCA Camp Erdman for souvenir. It is your group’s discretion, however, the amount allowed per student can be determined before you depart for Camp Erdman.

2011 SUMMER CAMP  WEEKLY THEMES  Each week campers will find themselves surrounded by groovy, mystery causing, pirating calamities leading to jousts and dance offs, possibly even a mythological debate  with Socrates ending with an appreciation of our global friendships we've built over the summer.    Campers are encouraged to bring items specifically for theme and to participate in theme activities.    Wednesday afternoon "Ultimate Theme Party" is where your camper will dress the theme.    Wednesday afternoon "Optional Excursions" has been especially created for 12-15 year old campers (additional costs may apply).  Date Theme Description  Session 1 - 06/19 to 06/24 Disco Week  Go Go Boots to Afros. Disco balls and neon lights. As we dance the night away to Donna  Summers, the Bee Gees and more it will take us on a time warp back to the 70's. So  don't forget your brilliant colors and platform shoes.  Session 2 - 06/26 to 07/01  Operation Detective  Week  Strange things have been happening at Camp Erdman and we need your mystery solving  skills to figure out what's going on. It's going to be a week of "Who dun it's", "Where'd it  goes", "How's" and "Why's". A different mystery to be solved each day.  Session 3 - 07/03 to 07/08 Pirates Week  "Argh Matey”, this week we be map reading to find us some treasure. Are ye a worthy  swashbuckler? We shall commandeer treasures to fill our fancy, so bring your eye patch  and wooden leg and join us as we scavenge through Camp Erdman.  Session 4 - 07/10 to 07/15  Knights of the  Round Table Week  Here ye, here ye all Maidens and Knights the Kingdom of Camp Erdman invites ye to it's  finest festival to craft thine own "Cabin Crest" and present it at the Grand Celebration  where we shall partake in the era of the Middle Ages.  Session 5 - 07/17 to 07/22 Tribal Week  Enter the villages of Camp Erdman, find the traditions of the Maori, Eskimo and Native  American cultures. Discover and partake in survival skills, dance, and ceremonial  practices. Bring your imagination to cultivate your own tribal clan.  Session 6 - 07/24 to 07/29 Hawaiiana Week  Hele mai, celebrate the wonders of Hawai'i by joining us at the miraculous land called  Camp Erdman. There you will experience the art of hula and the skill to create crafts  from nature, while learning about the islands through stories of Hawai'i Nei.  Session 7 - 07/31 to 08/05 Greek Week  In a world were the Gods rule all things, there is a secret land where they enjoy the  most called Camp Erdman. Here you will join Zeus, Poseidon & other Gods in Ancient  Greece games while exploring the mythologies of the great gods and goddesses.  Session 8 - 08/07 to 08/12  World  Celebration Week  Explore the worl in one place at Camp Erdman. Dance the Tango, beat African drums,  enjoy sweet Spanish pastries and devour Argentinean barbecue. While we celebrate our  International friends. So be prepared as we travel the world in 5 days.
