Camp Manitowa, a sleep-away camp in Southern Illinois occupying 40 acres between Rend Lake, Lake Hamilton and the Shawnee National Forest, is just a brief 90-minute bus ride from St. Louis. Owned and operated by St. Louisans Andy Brown, Dan Grabel and Mitch Morgan, who have applied their 60 combined years of experience to developing a unique summer camp with a strong concern for safety, an emphasis on individual attention, and a No Child Left Inside approach to activities intended to draw families to Camp Manitowa for generations.
The Manitowa facilities have undergone $1 million in renovations this year, offering campers plenty to keep them occupied. From the low and high ropes courses to horseback riding; music and crafts to kayaking, tubing and water-skiing; and from baseball, basketball and soccer to swimming in the pool, campers will have daily opportunities to create lifelong memories at this sleep-away camp for 2nd - 7th graders.
