Arizona offers grand adventures for families of all ages. Outstanding outdoor landmarks, historical sites steeped in cultures of the past, and fun towns to tour all provide something fantastic for everyone.

Take in breathtaking views when you visit Northwest Arizona and the extraordinary Grand Canyon. Oak Creek Canyon provides incredible sights with its colorful rocks and unique formations. Discover the Petrified National Forest, where large chunks of petrified wood along with fossilized plants, fish, and reptiles rest in the painted desert. Southeast Arizona has splendid saguaro cacti, numerous hummingbirds, and expansive underground caverns. It's home to some of the richest silver and copper mines in the country. Kids can look for dinosaur tracks as they hike past petrified forests and meteor craters in the desert.

Expose kids to the culture of the past at one of Arizona's many historical sites. Discover the land of the Hopi and Navajo peoples. Kids can grasp an understanding of the ancient Anasazi or Havasupai people who settled in the desert and traveled down the Colorado River. Canyon de Chelly is the longest continuously inhabited landscape in North America and provides unique sights to all who visit with its spiritual, historical, and cultural significance. Constructed by the Sinagua Indians, it is one of the best preserved ancient cliff swellings in America. Twenty-room, high-rise apartments carved into towering limestone cliffs tell a story of a Native American culture with vast survival tactics in a smoldering hot desert.

Venture down the historic Route 66, the original pathway from Chicago to Los Angeles. Let kids dig into mining history when they see evidence of grizzled miners hunting for gold or engineers at work on the Hoover Dam. Children can horseback ride at Oatman Stables, the hard rock gold mine where miners once dug deep through tunnels. Then hang out in Sedona, packed with art galleries to visit and fun stores to explore. Don't forget to take the kids to see the glorious red sandstone formations such as Cathedral Rock, Coffeepot, and Thunder Mountain.
