Let your kids wonder through the beautiful mesquite trees at the Tucson Camp Adventure! A plethora of exploration awaits at kids can choose from variety of activities including archery, swimming, sports, science, arts and crafts, computers, music and dance! All activities are taught by friendly and trained counselors. Such themes as “Pirate Week”, “Club Hollywood”, and “Music Makers” will keep your kids entertained the whole summer. Spend the day gazing at the stars at the Flandrau Planetarium. The planetarium projects over 8,000 stars to view, reflecting the sky and different times of night. While at the planetarium, families should visit the Exploring Sky Islands exhibit, which teaches the biology, geology, and ecology of Arizona’s mountainous regions through interactive exhibits. The Mineral Museum is also a must, as there are thousands of different minerals and gems on display.
Craft beautiful glass art at the Sonoran Glass School. This educational organization offers classes for all experience levels from beginners to more advanced classes. For families with children who are at least 12-years old, this is a great craft for everyone to learn. Classes in the Hot, Warm, and Flame shops will teach students how to craft, color, and cut different types of vases and stained glass pieces. This is a great opportunity to learn a unique art with your family.
Catch a glimpse of hundreds of different animals at the Reid Park Zoo. Take a trip to the zoo to get an up close look at plenty of exotic animals, including elephants, lions, zebras, rhinos, and plenty of others. Kids will have a blast feeding the giraffes and going for a ride on a camel. For extra activities, check out the Zoo Train rides and the Kenya Get Wet water park play area. Check out the latter as a way to cool off on hot days!
